The illustrations is for a 10 pages long shortstory wich is called 'White is Black' and tells us about what would happen if everything that is normally white one day suddenly would be black. The Alliance of Independent Dreamers Project - PRESS RELEASE
Alliance of Independent Dreamers (AID) is a collective project, bringing
together independent designers and artists for the purpose of raising
significant funds for Japan’s relief and reconstruction.
The Makin Jan Ma (MJM) team is proud to announce the Alliance of
Independent Dreamers (AID) project; an online store offering products
donated from various designers and artists. The AID project will be donating
all profits made to the Japanese Red Cross Society. Through this appeal MJM
aims to create a global platform for collaboration between independent
designers and artists, attracting attention to both the project and its cause,
and in turn raising significant funds for Japan’s relief and reconstruction.
The AID project will operate on MJM’s newly developed online store platform
(mjm-store.com) that is modified for the period of this project. The AID
project is due to be launched on the 11th of April, commemorating a month
since the Japan tsunami catastrophe, and is planned to run for one month.
Currently the AID project participant list includes: Ally Capellino, Annelie
Carlström, Arash and Kelly, Braille, CYBELE, Fanny+Jessy, Garudio Studiage,
Jocelyn Allen, Jules Julien, Larissa Hadjio, Lucy Jay, Makin Jan Ma, Matthew
Miller, MINE, Momocreatura, Noemi Klein, Ostwald Helgason, Reality Studio,
Roba, Sarah Angold, Seiko Kato, Stuart Gardiner, Tony Hill, Triple Major, Úna
Burke and Violet Darkling. We welcome new additions from the fields of
fashion, design and art, and encourage all participants and friends to spread
the word during the running of this project.
MJM is a film project, established by Makin Jan Ma promptly after graduating
from RCA in 2004, that explores the relationship between fashion and film
through the development of fictional characters. Japan holds personal,
spiritual and professional meaning to Makin, and his deep concern over
the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan resulted in the development
of AID. Makin believes this project to be an initial step into many future
philanthropic initiatives to be managed by the MJM label.
